SuppleHost.com offers increased services for the new year available to all current and new customers free of charge.

For the new year we are increasing the amount of mailboxes, network traffic and disk space quota available for each account, as well as JVM heap size for java enabled hosting accounts. You now have the option to setup twice as many mailboxes allocated to each package. For example, the Platinum Plan now offers 10 mailboxes compared to the previous 5 mailboxes. The e-Commerce Hosting Plan now offers 25 mailboxes compared to the previous 10 available mailboxes.

We have also increased the amount of network traffic available per hosting plan. The Platinum Plan now offers 15Gb of monthly traffic compared to the 10Gb before and the e-Commerce Plan now offers 20Gb compared 15Gb per month. In addition to raising the monthly traffic levels for each plan we have also reduced the cost of extra traffic from $5/Gb to $3/Gb.

Disk space quotas were also increased for all hosting plans. For more information on the increase in services please refer to the specific hosting plan page. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact us!

As time goes on and new standards and software become available, we keep developing and improving hosting configurations. This time we are pleased to announce the availability of Tomcat 5.0 based hosting configurations for SupplePlatinum hosting accounts, implementing modern specifications Servlets 2.4 and JSP 2.0. Inheriting all the major properties of previous Tomcat 4.1, 4.0, and 3.x based configurations, as well as maintaining excellent backward compatibility, this new hosting configuration allows you to simplify web development and brings in new power for your web site including, improved multidomain and aliasing capabilities, even more improved reliability and availability.

Tomcat 5.0 hosting configuration is backed with JVM 1.5.0, the new upcoming version of java that includes new powerful java development features like template containers, new APIs, and several other features. Unfortunately, development of JVM 1.5 takes longer than was initially anticipated however, our tests show that recent revisions of JVM 1.5 are very stable and provide excellent performance (which is additionally improved with new hosting hardware we installed for Tomcat 5.0 hosting).

According to our Terms Of Service, all of our SupplePlatinum customers are eligible for a free upgrade from older SupplePlatinum hosting configurations to the new, Tomcat 5.0 based configuration with no additional setup fees and no additional monthly fees. You may discover that the new Tomcat 5.0 based configuration provides some add-ons that earlier were available for an additional fee, these add-ons are now available for free! Please contact our support to schedule the move of your hosting account to our new servers.

As JVM 1.5.0 is officially still in beta stages, Tomcat 5.0 based hosting configuration is not yet available for mission critical Supple e-Commerce hosting accounts. Nonetheless, please be assured that Supple e-Commerce hosting accounts will also receive the free upgrade.

April 2003

It has been almost 2 years since we last considered increasing the disk space limit for our hosting packages. Over the past years, the industry has witnessed the cost of hard drives decreased tremendously, an increase in the average size of web sites, and large hard drives coming with desktops and servers. In order to ensure that our customers continue experiencing the best service possible, we are happy to announce a 70% increase in disk space for our SupplePlatinum hosting package to 256 Mb. We have also doubled the disk space available to our Supple e-Commerce account holders to 512 Mb.

In accordance to our policy, all existing and new hosting accounts will be eligible for this improvement free of additional charge. We have already increased the disk space quota for hosting accounts residing on our new servers. Unfortunately, we do not currently have extra disk space at some of our older servers. Therefore, if you are a customer and your hosting account is residing on one of our old servers, please do not hesitate to contact our technical support team to request your account be moved to a newer server. With this move, not only will receive extra disk space, you will also enjoy access to the latest system software like Tomcat 4.1.x, MySQL 4.0.x, etc.

February 2003

As result of further technology evolution and to support growth of our hosting client's web sites we again have increased the monthly network traffic included with our hosting plans. Both existing and new hosting accounts get free network traffic limit increased by 50% to 100% depending on hosting plan.

November 2002

Over the past several months, we have invested a considerable amount of time and resources in researching how to provide a more affordable java technology hosting environment without sacrificing quality and best practices. Our research has shown and proven noticeable decrease in hardware resources needed to effectively support an average java hosting account. We very happy to transfer this benefit to our existing and potential clients by decreasing the monthly hosting fee for our java enabled accounts, i.e. the SupplePlatinum and Supple E-Commerce by $2/month. The hosting price for these two hosting accounts is now $18/month and $33/month respectively. This change is immediately available to all our new clients, and all our existing clients will automatically get their monthly hosting fees decreased starting from October.

Furthermore, we have also doubled the heap size of Java Virtual Machine provided with all java hosting accounts; thanks to our research, our customers will receive this great improvement free of charge! In the future, our research has shown that java technology has more potentials to decrease use of hardware resources which in turn will allow us to further lower our hosting fees without sacrificing quality of service. We will continue to research and come up with best practices not offered by our competitors, so stay tuned!

September 2002

Based on popular demand from our clients, we have stopped providing Tomcat 3.x as default java configuration; instead, we have started using high-performance Tomcat 4.1. According to our policy, all existing SuppleHost clients with Tomcat 4.0 or Tomcat 4.1 based hosting accounts will no longer be charged the additional $5/month.

As we strive to provide the best possible Java hosting environment to our clients worldwide, we have increased the monthly network traffic limit provided with our hosting plans. We have approximately doubled the monthly network traffic limit for current and new hosting accounts. Such large margin of change is explained by the availablility of improved and less expensive computer hardware necessary for conducting our hosting operations.

August 2002

According to tests and benchmarks performed by our technical department, the new 4.1 series of Tomcat java server shows excellent reliability and performance that far exceeds that of Tomcat 4.0, the previous version of Tomcat JSP/Servlets engine. There we are now offering Tomcat 4.1 instead of Tomcat 4.0 based solutions, for the same price.

At the same time, we are now providing JVM 1.4.1 instead of JVM 1.3.1. JVM 1.4 introduces few important APIs as a part of standard java distribution which will greatly benefit our hosting clients.

July 2002

SuppleHost introduces an improved method of backing up hosting accounts. After improving our network and storage infrastructure, a new excellent backup scheme has been deployed at all SuppleHost's servers to ensure data availability, integrity, and security.
